Act Profile

Midlands Sax Player

A professional saxophonist who has worked with various bands covering different genres and styles of music ranging from Funk-Rock- Soulful Jazz-Motown, Reggae and Gospel. He has played venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, Glastonbury, wine bars, and restaurants and with DJs at the Hippodrome.
He spent some time living in London playing Saxophone in a musical called ‘Bad Boy Johnny and the Prophets of Doom’ this is where he met Mark Shaw and started to work with Marks’ band, ‘Then Jericho’ playing gigs in London and around England.

He began learning the clarinet between the age of 18/19 he had a few lessons from a clarinet teacher but decided after a few lessons that he could teach himself and began down the road of daily practice and discipline. It was at this time some friends who were putting a band together and he was asked to join- he was still learning but was so excited he said yes and struggled through with some determination and fortune. The lead singer in the band played clarinet at school so was able to help him through playing and understanding music, plus, the band was very supportive and patient.
After about a year of rehearsing the band started playing gigs- they played mainly British and American air force base supporting artist such as Dr Feelgood.

He was then asked to tour around Europe with a well known Reggae artist Dr Alimantado. After the tour Gee Came back and continued gigging with his band playing venues around England and the BBC stage in Birmingham. He was then offered another tour around England and Wales with poet Yusuf.
After this decided to attend University to study music. After finishing his degree taught music in schools for 8 years. He then went back into music full-time, teaching Saxophone from his home, working as a session musician and as a solo saxophonist for weddings, corporate events, private parties and again touring Europe with Artist Maka B.

He is also a composer writing instrumental and vocal music, and has released an EP of his original works and is now planning to release his album of original composition which is to be released in summer 2015.
He is an accomplished and experienced musician who can bring is debonair, classy and talent to any occasion. With his sweet sound, friendly, polite, charismatic and, most of all, professional approach to his work is highly recommended. He is able to deliver an exciting live show that is magnetic with the added ability to communicate with any audience. The performance can be a full blown stage performance with his band ‘Rawenergy’ or a laid back background music provided solo. His repertoire is versatile and he is able to adapt to any situation.

Testimonials

"I booked Gee in to play at my husband's surprise 50th Birthday party and he was definitely the icing on the cake. Not only was the quality of his playing fabulous and his repertoire versatile, but he also interacted beautifully with his audience, kept the kids amused, got the reluctant adults to dance and generally kept the atmosphere groovy. He was also easily contactable beforehand, chatted through what form the revels would take and was very responsive to any e-mails or phone messages. On arrival he took the time to practice with my son and played a guitar and saxophone duet with him, much to my husband's pride and delight. A thoroughly nice guy and great entertainer, I would very happily recommend Gee to anyone to liven up the party."

Very best wishes,

Samantha
